What’s Behind the Wall? Help Us Reimagine It
Behind the Wall is a community-led restoration project focused on the yard behind Barshaw Park’s historic Peace Walled Garden, a hidden part of the park with huge potential.
We want to bring this quiet, unused area back to life as a space for nature, creativity, wellbeing and community connection.
We're at the early stages and this is your chance to help shape the space. Whether you're a regular park user, nearby resident, or someone with memories to share, your ideas matter.

Our Vision
Restore & Protect
We aim to stabilise and repair the historic wall and buildings tucked behind the Peace Walled Garden. These structures hold real heritage value, and with careful restoration, they can once again serve the community.
Breathe New Life Into Forgotten Space
The disused yard area offers space for small workshops, craft studios, tool storage, and open air gathering. We want to bring it back into active use, with opportunities for both learning and creative activity.
A Place for People
Whether it's gardening, learning a new skill, attending a talk, or just sitting quietly in nature, we want to create a warm, inclusive space where people feel welcome and connected.
Green, Local & Sustainable
The project champions eco conscious design, upcycled materials, wildlife friendly planting, and sustainability at its core. From composting to reusing materials, we want this to be an example of green restoration.
Rooted in Barshaw’s History
The yard is part of Paisley’s living history. Our work will honour the past, celebrate the present, and invest in a greener, more connected future for all generations.
